Goodyear Welt Boots, Built to Last and Be Resoled

Goodyear welt construction is a benchmark for premium boots, and it is the core of what OAK manufactures in León, Mexico, for brands worldwide, from the United States and Canada to Europe, Australia and Japan.

    The Construction

    What Goodyear welt means

In Goodyear welt construction, a welt is stitched to the upper and the insole, and the outsole is then stitched to that welt. Because the sole is stitched rather than only cemented, the boot can be resoled.

Why Goodyear Welt Adds Value to Your Boot Collection

A premium boot is defined by how it is built. Goodyear welt construction combines a stitched structure, skilled craftsmanship and specialized machinery to create footwear designed for lasting wear and repair.

    A Strong, Stitched Structure

The welt connects the upper assembly to the insole, while a separate seam attaches the outsole to the welt. This construction creates a secure connection between components and supports durability through repeated wear.

    Designed for Resoling

When the outsole wears down, a qualified repair specialist can replace it while preserving the upper, provided the boot’s condition allows. This can extend the useful life of a well-maintained pair.

    Skilled Bootmaking Craftsmanship

Lasting, welt stitching and sole attachment require trained operators and careful control throughout production. The value lies in the workmanship invested in building each pair.

    Specialized Machinery, Experienced Hands

Dedicated welting and sole-stitching equipment work together with skilled operators to create controlled seams and accurate component alignment. Machinery supports the craft; operator expertise guides the result.

    Long-Term Value for Your Brand

A repairable boot gives your collection a tangible quality story: construction customers can understand, craftsmanship they can appreciate and a product they can maintain over time.

    Quality checks throughout production

Leather is reviewed by a quality inspector when it arrives. Quality checkpoints continue through each production stage, including final packing. Every boot is checked against the customer’s approved confirmation sample. Boots that do not match are corrected where possible or replaced.
